THE PLAYGROUND

THE PLAYGROUND WORKSHOPS, PROGRAMS, AND PLAYS

The Theater Bug presents:

April 16 - 19th

Performances will be held at West End United Methodist Church

2200 West End Ave, Nashville 37203

A self-conscious high schooler, steered by conflicting voices in her head (a hyper-stressed Angel Clown and a depressed Demon Bear) lies to impress her crush. And it totally works! At first. But she soon must learn how to stop letting the voices run the show and start listening to herself.
A neurotic fourth wall breaking comedy romance with full-tilt pinball energy. Quirky, colorful, off kilter, sincere. It's very Pee Wee's Playhouse. Like It's like Tim Burton-esque minus the goth stuff. It's super playful and self-aware, it has some heightened characters (including Intrusive Thoughts personified) but the emotional center and the love story are both super grounded. It's zany, earnest, meta-fictional, pop-saturated, tropey high school doldrums (First loves! Overprotective fathers! Shitty garage bands!) but then all of that gets smashed up and remixed by hyper-niche characterizations, creative escapism, and wild left turns.

Performance dates:

April 16-19 at 7pm,

April 19 at 5pm.
