MORE ABOUT STORIES_

Brought to you by the creators of Quaranteened, STORIES_ is an original Instragram musical web series portraying intimate narratives uniquely shared by children and teens through a complex 2020. Each 10-20 minute episode will feature a brand new song and music video, as well as a glimpse into the stories of different young people as told through their Instagram stories. The first 5 episodes address issues such as women’s rights, racial injustice, LGBTQIA+ youth and the fears that many children face while quarantined in unstable homes. Holding a current and topical format, STORIES_ is set in 2020, on the backdrop of a post COVID-19 world, embracing the new normal that challenges us all to connect and create virtually. STORIES_ will also be featured on the Instagram page @westview_birdhouse for an interactive experience. The show intends to address the big and small things affecting today's youth, set on the backdrop of the current pandemic.

We recognize the responsibility of our platform as an arts organization and wish to make a commitment for furthered social justice-based advocacy efforts and racial equity within our organization by:

  1. Enacting a listening campaign among students and engaging in critical conversations among Theater Bug stakeholders about race, anti-racism, equity and justice at bi-annual community meetings hosted by The Theater Bug's Board of Directors.

  2. Teaching advocacy as well as art by continuing to support other non-profits with fundraising efforts and visibility.

  3. A commitment to change in a changing world, realizing that the advocacy efforts made by our organization today, will need to evolve as we learn and grow as a community.

We hope that you will join us in celebrating these inspiring young voices.
